Administrator Account Correct Configuration
This section describes the correct structure and best practices for sharing Passwords and associated information within an organization. The organization’s Administrator is responsible for distributing information to the Team Members and granting them access to the required information. Administrators must have access to and control all the Passwords and associated data within the organization.
Passpack is an application that allows an organization's Administrator to deploy a centralized solution for securely sharing Passwords with individual Team Members and Teams of users. The Administrator has sole control over adding, removing, and tracking changes to login credentials across all Team Members.
With Passpack, the correct procedure for deploying a centralized Password distribution system would be as follows:
The Administrator would first set up the main Administrator account. This can be done quickly by visiting the Plans section of the Passpack website at https://app.passpack.com/register/Team Member.
After the Administrator account is set up, the Administrator will send invitations to users or Team Members, allowing them to set up their accounts and connect to the main Administrator account. This is done via a straightforward email procedure. Once the invitation is sent, Team Members must accept it to create their Passpack Team Member account.
After entering Passwords into the Administrator account, the Administrator will define the Team structure for the organization’s Team Members. In this structure, the Administrator controls how all Passwords are distributed amongst the organization’s users. The Administrator creates a Team simply by naming a Team folder and authorizing users to access the newly created Team. This way, Passwords are shared from the Administrator account out to the Team. The Admin manages which users can access folders containing specific Passwords that users need to perform their jobs. In this example, employees 1, 2, and 8 have been grouped into a Team.
In the new version of Passpack, a Team Member can now also share Passwords directly with other Team Members. However, the Admin still has visibility and access to all Passwords shared within the organization, whether shared through them or directly between users. The critical point is that the Administrator has total control over access and visibility to all user Passwords regardless of who creates them. The Administrator can easily remove a user from a Team if required, stopping access to Password information for that specific user.
